Glaze with Confidence
The aim of this of this course is to give you an opportunity to improve your understanding of glazes and the firing processes.
A 2-day workshop to enable you to confidently and competently manage the glazes and firing in an electric kiln.
Open to all levels of experience
Split over two consecutive days you will leave with the confidence to safely explore and experiment.
Day One: Your first session will give you an insight into the properties of materials used in a glaze. The second session explores the maintenance and making of dipping glazes.
Day Two: Session one on your second day explores techniques in safely and efficiently loading kilns and firing routines (in an electric kiln) to get the best outcomes for your ceramics. In the second session you will design and make your own glaze using a blend of materials.
Understand the long-term management of your studio glaze kitchen.
You will consider sustainability issues and the environment in the making and management of glazes.
Understand a range of firing techniques and know the stages of firing that lead to finished work.
Make progress in your glazing skills under the experienced eye of The Clay Yard team.
